Description of Organization
The Nashua Senior Activity Center serves older adults (age 50 and above) in the greater Nashua area who depend on us to support their independence, increase their social network and quality of life and provide access to many necessary services. The Senior Activity Center has been providing a wide variety of programs, activities, and services to seniors for over 30 years. Our mission is to Promote The Well-Being and Independence of Older Adults through Health, Wellness, Recreational, Cultural, Social Support and Educational Programs. As a "regional" Senior Center, the SAC maintains a membership of more than 2,500 members annually and is supported by over 200 senior volunteers from our local community.
General Position Summary
Responsible for the overall operation and management of the Senior Activity Center to provide social, wellness and educational programs and services for adults age 50 and older within the greater Nashua area. Work with and seek funding from, individuals, local and state agencies and organizations to develop and promote services to meet community needs of older adults.
Position Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the organization, management, promotion, and strategic planning of the Senior Activity Center
- Supervise staff members, volunteers and contract workers; provide guidance and complete annual reviews
- Manage all fund raising activities
- Evaluate existing services and structures; develop new programs and services designed primarily for, but not limited to, older adults
- Prepare annual budget, with assistance from Finance Committee; maintain working knowledge of all accounts, data entry and account reconciliation
- Act as liaison to Board of Directors
- Promote the Senior Activity Center through speaking and media opportunities, community events and committee memberships
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Minimum requirements Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, gerontology or related senior services field. Master’s Degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of five years experience working with older adults. Strong business management background required. Must have experience in grant writing, fund raising, excellent communication skills and be proficient with Microsoft Office.
